We are excited to have this wonderful teaching team join us in 2026, united by a shared Catholic faith and a love of what is True, Good and Beautiful.

Each of our teachers shared a little about why they are excited to be teaching at Newman College - click below to find out what they had to say!

Miss Cotterell

Prep

"I am so grateful and overjoyed to be joining the Saint John Henry Newman College team and community, where the Catholic faith is not only present but actively lived and celebrated. It is a true answer to prayer to be part of a mission that places Christ at the centre of all we do, with an unwavering commitment to forming young people in both intellect and faith. I’m deeply passionate about helping students with his and her learning, and I truly believe that a classical education forms the whole person, mind, heart, and soul, as part of their journey toward God, our ultimate Truth and Good."

Mrs da Silva

Year 1

"I am excited to join the SJHNC team and be part of a community united by a shared love for Truth, Beauty, and Goodness. I look forward to sharing my love of the Catholic faith with my students, guiding and inspiring them as they grow in wisdom and virtue."

Mr Macahilig

Year 2

"I firmly believe that SJHNC will provide the opportunity for children across greater Brisbane and beyond to grow in virtue under a truly classical education. This same endeavour aims to form young minds to love truth, beauty and goodness ordinately and thus a truly classical education is a Catholic one. Faith and the liturgical life in and out of the home is important to my family, which is why my children are also coming on board to continue their formation by the team I have come to know and love. I am very excited to be part of this community, for the opportunity to apprentice precious young minds out of shadows and symbols into truth."

Mr Aitken

Year 3

"I am excited about being a part of the SJHNC community because of the commitment to delivering a Classical approach to curriculum and pedagogy. The team of people that will be working together are all dedicated and have a shared vision of what a true, good and beautiful education should be. This shared vision is strengthened further by a commitment to practicing our Catholic faith."
