Enrolments
Apply Today
Limited places are still available in Years Prep to Three in 2026.
You can begin the application process today by emailing
admin@newmancollege.qld.edu.au, and expressing interest in applying.
Our Enrolment Process:
Step One: Contact the School.
Let us know that you are interested in finding out more about enrolling your child by emailing admin@newmancollege.qld.edu.au
Step Two: Request an Expression of Interest Form.
These forms can be filled out for students of any age in advance of their enrolment year. For example, a child eligible for Prep in 2029 can have an EOI form submitted in any year prior to 2029. Please note that as part of the Expression of Interest, we require a Birth Certificate and Baptism Certificate.
Step Three: Enrolment Interviews.
For Prep students, these will be conducted in Autumn of the year prior to commencement. For all other year level applications, interviews take place as required. Prior to the interview you will be required to provide a letter of recommendation from your parish priest. Due to the volume of interest, not all applicants receive an interview. As a Catholic school, we give preference to practicing Catholic families.
Step Four: Correspondence from the School.
After the interview, the school will inform you of whether your child is being offered a place. At this point you will be required to pay an enrolment fee of $500 to secure the placement.
Statement on Enrolment Processes
St John Henry Newman is an intentionally small community. As we are building this school from the ground up, sustainable growth is a priority. We also place priority on ensuring that future siblings can attend the school if appropriate. This means that enrolment is an intricate balancing process that takes multiple factors into account. Due to this and to the volume of applications – often over double what we can accommodate – please be aware that we can never guarantee a spot in the school, regardless of how early you express interest.
Would your family be a good fit for Newman College?
Parents have expressed interest in our school for several reasons. This checklist might help you to consider whether our school would be right for you. Each of these are non-negotiable for us, they speak to our identity, purpose, and they shape our everyday practises and activities.
- Are you a practicing Catholic?
We are very intentional about our Catholicism. It is central to who we are, and it is the animating force behind all we do. Our students pray daily and attend mass multiple times each week. If religion is an optional extra for you, we might not be the school for you.
- Do you support our low-tech approach?
Many parents are interested in our low-tech approach; however, we believe that this approach should be reinforced and supported at home. If you’re okay with your child watching TV every afternoon, or if you don’t see any problem giving them a phone when they turn 14 (or 10!) then we might not be the school for you.
- Do you support our classical approach?
We are a classical school, which means we teach Latin, read old books, and sing old songs. We care about handwriting and grammar. We memorise history because we love it, not because we’re going to use it one day in our future jobs. Like our low-tech approach, this needs to be supported at home. If reading beautiful books like
The Wind in the Willows
to your children isn’t a priority, we might not be the school for you.
